Franklin Chen

Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy)

Franklin graduated from Nanyang Polytechnic and achieved his Bachelor of Health Science (Physiotherapy) from University of Sydney. An enthusiastic physiotherapist who is always eager to improve his clinical skills and provide the optimal care for his clients, Franklin has attended many Physiotherapy workshops and shared his expertise at various public forums. Franklin has developed a keen interest in the field of Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy since he first joined the profession. His main interest is in spinal and sports injury management.

 

Franklin first started off as a staff Physiotherapist in a private clinic in 2005 and was also actively involved in providing coverage for the Singapore National youth soccer teams, Rugby 7s and other sporting events both locally and overseas. He then moved on to be the Chief Physiotherapist at Saint Andrew's Village clinic (2009 - 2012) where he took charge of the teams from the different sports. He also provided mentorship to Sports and Conditioning trainers, as well as Physiotherapy students. During this time, Franklin also played a key role in Gleneagles Hospital Rehabilitation Department ensuring clients received quality treatment and rehabilitation. In 2013, he established his own practice, Physio@Novena Pte Ltd, continuing to provide clients with the necessary advices and treatments assisting them in returning to their daily activities.

 

Franklin is  a certified practitioner in both Functional Fascial Taping and Rock Taping. This allows him to use special taping techniques to improve clients' sports performance or to relieve discomfort.

 

Andrea Lai

Bachelor of Physiotherapy

 

Andrea is a physiotherapist with vast experience in therapy and rehabilitation.  Following her graduation from NYP and Curtin University of Technology in 1995 and 1998 respectively, Andrea spent 8 years with Gleneagles Hospital and Mount Elizabeth Hospital under the Parkway Group where she had the opportunity to gain a wide and varied interest in outpatient rehabilitation of back/neck pain, arthroscopic surgeries, degenerative joint conditions and her key subinterest - neurogeriatric rehabilitation.  While with Parkway,  Andrea had the opportunity to lead a multidisciplinary team in  several falls prevention and screening programs in the heartlands.

 

In 2003, wanting a wider perspective of the healthcare system and exposure to a more varied patient group and diagnosis, Andrea moved onto TTSH where she spent 5 years, rotating in the outpatient department, inpatient orthopaedics and neurogeriatrics rehabilitation.
 
Andrea is passionate about prevention and self-management and believes that is the key to achieving the best rehabilitation outcomes.  As such, she spends considerable time in patient education, talking to patients about ergonomics and  the necessary lifestyle modifications for their conditions.
 
Prior to Physio@Novena,  Andrea was the Rehab and Homecare Manager of Gleneagles Hospital, Singapore.

Lim Kit Looi

Bachelor of Science (Physiotherapy)

 

Kit graduated from South Australian University (Previously known as South Australia Institute of Technology). She has 30 years of clinical and managerial experience under her belt. She started in Mount Elizabeth in 1988, working with acute inpatient cases from an array of disciplines such as Intensive Care Unit, cardiovascular and orthopedic.


She was one of the pioneers in establishing the Neuro Rehab Unit in Mount Elizabeth, which pride itself to be a multi-disciplinary approach rehabilitation. She was seconded to head the Gleneagles Hospital Rehabilitation Department. After 12 years with Parkway Group of Hospitals, she left to establish her own private practice, PhysioKit, of 16 years.


After taking 2 years of sabbatical leave, she now joined Physio@Novena Pte Ltd. Conditions that she sees are orthopedic e.g. post trauma, back, neck, upper and lower limbs. Neurological conditions e.g. strokes and Parkinson Disease. She also has special interest in Women’s health relieving ante and post-natal mothers from their concerns with urinary incontinence, bodily pain and getting fit again. Last but not least, she does therapy for patients who have mobility difficulty due to injury or frailty in the comfort of their own homes.
